Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca—Where Oceans Meet Origins
As the morning light spills across the tarmac, you arrive in Casablanca, Morocco’s cosmopolitan gateway. From the airport, we begin your journey with a graceful sweep into the city—a place where Atlantic waves kiss modern boulevards and ancient stories linger in stone.
Our first stop is the majestic Hassan II Mosque, perched dramatically over the sea. Its towering minaret—the tallest in Morocco—rises like a prayer etched into the sky. Inside, light filters through intricate mosaics and carved cedarwood, casting quiet reverence across the marble floors. It’s the largest mosque outside Mecca, and its grandeur is matched only by its serenity.
Corniche & Cultural Echoes We then drift toward the Corniche, Casablanca’s seaside promenade, where the ocean breeze carries the scent of salt and citrus. If time and energy allow, we’ll explore the city’s layered heritage:
The Jewish Museum, a rare and moving tribute to Morocco’s Jewish legacy, filled with artifacts, photographs, and stories that span centuries.
The Royal Palace gates, regal and imposing, offering a glimpse into Morocco’s monarchical past.
The Quartier Habous, a French-built district that blends colonial architecture with traditional souks—a place where booksellers, bakers, and artisans coexist in quiet harmony.
The New Mellah, home to much of Morocco’s Jewish community, where the Bet El Synagogue stands as a beacon of faith and continuity.
Evening in Casablanca
As the day softens, we journey onward to Rabat, the country’s elegant capital. The rhythm of Morocco has begun—gentle, rich, and full of promise.
Day 2: From Coastal Echoes to Imperial Shadows
After breakfast in Casablanca, the road beckons eastward—toward Rabat, Morocco’s present-day capital, where history and modernity meet in quiet conversation. Here, the Hassan Tower rises like a half-finished prayer, its red sandstone silhouette once destined to be the tallest minaret in the world. Though surpassed by modern giants, its presence remains timeless—an emblem of ambition and reverence.
Rabat’s Regal Whispers
If time allows, we may glimpse the Royal Palace gates, stroll through manicured gardens, or pause in the Kasbah of the Udayas, where blue-washed alleys tumble toward the sea. Now you will check into your hotel, where dinner awaits before retiring for the evening to reflect on the incredible start to your Moroccan dream.
Day 3:
Our journey continues as we make our way to our end destination of Fes.
Our first stop is Meknes as the Majesty and Mystery and grandeur unfold in stone and story. At Lhdim Plaza, Morocco’s second-largest square, life pulses with colour and rhythm. Nearby, the monumental Bab Mansour stands guard—its zellij mosaics and towering arches a testament to the city’s former glory. Beneath the surface lies the enigmatic Qara Prison, a subterranean maze said to stretch toward Fes, its corridors steeped in legend and silence.
Volubilis: Rome’s Forgotten Outpost
On our journey to Fes, we will pause at Volubilis, the ancient capital of the Mauritanian kingdom and a jewel of Roman civilisation. Columns rise from wildflower-strewn fields, mosaics glimmer beneath the sun, and the ruins whisper of empires long vanished. It’s a place where time folds in on itself, and the past feels startlingly present.
Arrival in Fes By evening, we arrive in Fes, the spiritual and cultural soul of Morocco. You’ll be welcomed into your riad, where dinner awaits and the city’s mysteries begin to stir just beyond the walls. Tomorrow, its labyrinthine medina will open to you—but tonight, rest and let the echoes of the day settle gently.
Day 4: Fes—A Labyrinth of Legacy and Light
Today, the city of Fes opens like a manuscript—its pages inscribed with centuries of devotion, artistry, and imperial grandeur. With a local guide as your storyteller, you’ll trace the contours of Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart.
Royal Beginnings We begin at the Royal Palace gates, where golden doors shimmer beneath intricate zellij mosaics. Though entry is reserved for royalty, the façade alone speaks volumes—of dynasties past and the enduring elegance of Moroccan design.
Bab Boujloud: The Blue Gate to Time From here, we step through Bab Boujloud, the famed Blue Gate, where cobalt tiles frame the entrance to the ancient Medina—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest car-free urban zones. Inside, the city pulses with life: narrow alleys twist and turn, revealing secrets at every bend.
Medina Treasures As you wander, you’ll encounter:
The Medersa Bouanania, a 14th-century theological college adorned with carved cedar and marble.
The Najjarine Fountain, a jewel of craftsmanship nestled beside the Museum of Wooden Arts.
The Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed in sunlit vats—a kaleidoscope of color and tradition that has endured for centuries.
Quaraouin Mosque & University At the heart of the Medina lies the Quaraouin Mosque and University, founded in 859 AD and recognised as the world’s oldest continually operating educational institution. Its courtyards and prayer halls echo with the footsteps of scholars and seekers.
The Mellah: Echoes of Faith Next, we visit the Mellah, Fes’s historic Jewish quarter. Here, synagogues and homes tell stories of coexistence, resilience, and cultural richness. The air feels quieter, reverent—like a pause in the city’s rhythm.
Panoramic Reflections
To close the day, we ascend to an ancient fortification, where the city unfurls below in a tapestry of rooftops, minarets, and winding streets. From this vantage, the Medina reveals itself in full—timeless, intricate, and alive.
Evening in Your Riad Tonight, you’ll experience true Moroccan hospitality in your first riad—a sanctuary of carved plaster, flickering lanterns, and quiet courtyards. Let the day settle into memory as the call to prayer drifts across the rooftops.
Day 5: From Alpine Breezes to Sahara Sands
After breakfast, we begin our descent into Morocco’s southern soul—traversing landscapes that shift like chapters in a fable. First, we pass through Imouzzer and arrive in Ifrane, affectionately known as the Switzerland of Morocco. Its alpine-style chalets, crisp air, and snow-dusted winters offer a surreal contrast to the desert awaiting us. The town’s symmetry and serenity feel almost European, a quiet pause before the wildness ahead.
Cedar Forest & Barbary Macaques Soon, the road winds into the cedar forests, where ancient trees stretch skyward and the rustle of leaves is punctuated by the chatter of Barbary macaques. These curious creatures may approach with playful boldness—observe with care, and let the forest’s hush settle into your bones.
Midelt & Mountain Fare We stop for lunch in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. Here, the air is cool, the food hearty, and the views expansive. It’s a moment to refuel before the landscape begins to shift.
Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass & Ziz Valley The journey continues through the dramatic Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass, where the road clings to cliffs and the horizon stretches endlessly. Along the Ziz Valley, we pause for photographs—palms ripple in the wind, ochre villages cling to hillsides, and the light begins to soften.
Merzouga & Camel Caravan By late afternoon, the dunes of Merzouga rise like golden waves. Here, the desert calls. You’ll mount a camel, its gait slow and rhythmic, and begin your trek into the sands. Atop a high dune, we pause—just in time for sunset, when the sky ignites in hues of amber, rose, and violet.
Desert Camp & Starry Reverie Your desert camp awaits—a blend of nomadic tradition and modern comfort. As night falls, the stars emerge in dazzling clarity, unfiltered by city light. Around the campfire, Berber drums echo into the night, and dancing begins beneath the vast celestial dome. This is not just a stay—it’s a communion with the cosmos.
Dinner & Overnight Under the Stars Dinner is served in the heart of the dunes, and your tent offers warmth and wonder. The silence of the Sahara is profound, and the stars—millions of them—feel close enough to touch.
Sustainability Tip
Water is sacred in Morocco’s arid regions. Please consider using eco-friendly toiletries, free from SLS and parabens. You’ll find beautiful, locally made products at cooperatives along your journey—supporting both the land and its people.
Day 6:
Merzouga to Boumalne Dades.
Daybreak in the Dunes
We rise before the sun, drawn by the promise of a spectacle that defies description. As the first golden threads unravel across the horizon, the desert blushes awake—an ethereal moment that feels borrowed from a dream. If you can gently part from this reverie, a warm breakfast and steaming cup await, grounding you back into the day.
Return to Merzouga Our camels, ever graceful in their sway, carry us back across the sands. The journey feels no less magical in reverse—each footprint a quiet echo of the morning’s wonder.
Rhythms of the Sahara—Nomads, Music, and Stars Today, the desert deepens—not just in landscape, but in spirit. The sands of Merzouga hold stories older than memory, and you’ll spend the day tracing their echoes.
Rissani is rich in Echoes of an Empire
Next, we venture to Rissani, once the beating heart of Tafilalet’s ancient kingdom. Today, its soul pulses through a vibrant souk, alive three days a week with colour, barter, and the scent of spices. Here, you may finally uncover those elusive treasures that have whispered to you along the way—woven textiles, silver trinkets, or perhaps something unexpected.
Erfoud’s Stone Secrets
In Erfoud, we step into a workshop where time itself is carved into stone. Petrified marble—once living matter—now gleams with fossilised memory, each slab a relic of ancient oceans and forgotten forests.
Travelling Through Palm-Laced Valleys We drift through the lush corridors of Touroug and Tinjdad, where palm groves ripple in the breeze like green silk. The land begins to rise, and soon we arrive at the Todra Gorges—a cathedral of crimson rock, sculpted by the river’s patient hand. Climbers cling to its flanks, and echoes bounce between the cliffs like whispered legends.
Lunch Among Giants
After time to wander and wonder, we pause for lunch in a quiet nook before continuing through Boumalne Dades. The Dades Valley unfolds like a painter’s canvas—terraced fields, winding roads, and the surreal “monkey fingers” rock formation, jutting skyward like nature’s own sculpture garden.
An Evening’s Embrace
As twilight deepens, we settle into a cozy hotel, where supper is served and stories are shared. The day’s tapestry—woven from sunrise to canyon—now rests gently in memory, ready to be stitched into the next chapter.
Day 7: Merzouga to Quarzazate –
Through Petal-Laced Valleys and Whispering Palms
Our first stop is Khamlia, a village where the pulse of Gnaoua music rises from the earth itself. Born of sub-Saharan roots and spiritual tradition, its hypnotic rhythms are played on krakebs and drums, inviting you into a trance-like celebration of resilience and joy.
Mifis Mine & Desert Realities Next, we visit Mifis, one of Morocco’s desert mines—a place where the land yields its secrets through salt and minerals. The terrain here is stark, but the stories are rich, etched into the faces of those who’ve worked its depths.
Though grand monuments may be absent, the road through the Dades Valley offers something far more elusive—an invitation to wander the veins of Morocco’s soul. These winding routes, etched into the earth like ancient calligraphy, are beloved by those who chase the romance of the open road.
We detour into the Valley of the Roses, where spring transforms the landscape into a fragrant tapestry of blush and bloom. Here, petals are not merely admired—they are celebrated. A festival unfurls in their honour, and the air is perfumed with the scent of thousands of blossoms. Even outside the season, the rose remains a quiet
sovereign—pressed into oils, stirred into dishes, and woven into the very fabric of local life.
Skoura Oasis: A Verdant Mirage
Further along, the Skoura Oasis emerges like a secret whispered by the desert. Its palm grove, lush and labyrinthine, is a living contrast to the surrounding austerity. From above, the view is spellbinding—a green mosaic stitched into the ochre earth, shimmering with life and shadow.
Arrival in Ouarzazate From Skoura, the road gently unwinds toward Ouarzazate, the gateway to the cinematic south. Just 40 kilometres remain until we reach our haven for the night—a hotel where comfort awaits and the day’s impressions can settle like dust on a well-travelled boot.
Day 8:
From Desert Citadels to Saffron Valleys
After a tranquil breakfast in your riad, the journey begins—threading through sun-warmed roads toward Taroudant, with a detour that feels like stepping into legend.
Our first stop is the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortress of ochre and shadow rising from the desert like a mirage. Built in the early 20th century by T-Hami El Glaoui, one of the last great Berber chieftains, this kasbah was once a vital waypoint on the trans-Saharan trade route. Its earthen towers and labyrinthine alleys now stand as a UNESCO World Heritage site, echoing with the footsteps of caravans and the whispers of ancient diplomacy. The air here feels thick with stories—some etched into the walls, others still waiting to be told.
Taliouine: The Saffron Heartbeat
Continuing on, we pass through Taznakht, a town known for its vibrant weaving traditions, before arriving in Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital. If the timing is right, the fields will be alive with harvest—delicate purple blossoms dotting the landscape, their crimson threads plucked by hand in a ritual as old as the hills. A visit to the saffron cooperative offers insight into this golden spice’s journey—from flower to vial—and a chance to meet the Berber families whose lives are entwined with its cultivation.
Arrival in Agadir
By afternoon, the road unfurls toward Agadir, where the Atlantic breeze greets you like an old friend. The city’s coastal charm offers a gentle contrast to the day’s desert grandeur. Tonight, you’ll rest in a comfortable hotel, the scent of saffron and sun-baked stone still lingering in memory.
Day 9:
From Sun-Kissed Shores to Wind-Swept Walls
After breakfast in your hotel, the morning begins with a gentle stroll through Agadir, a city once famed for its golden beaches and cosmopolitan charm. Though quieter now, its seaside promenade still hums with the rhythm of waves and the scent of salt and citrus. A leisurely walk here offers a final glimpse of the Atlantic’s embrace before the road calls us northward.
Argan Groves and Climbing Goats As we follow the coastal ribbon toward Essaouira, the landscape shifts—rolling hills dotted with Argan trees, their gnarled branches reaching skyward like ancient dancers. In a surreal twist of nature, goats perch among the limbs, nibbling at leaves with improbable grace. It’s a scene that feels plucked from a fable, and we pause to marvel, laugh, and capture the moment.
Arrival in Essaouira
By afternoon, we arrive in Essaouira, the white-walled jewel of the coast. Wind-swept and steeped in history, its medina beckons with blue shutters, narrow alleys, and the scent of grilled seafood drifting from hidden courtyards.
Skala de la Kasbah: Guardians of the Coast
Later, explore the Skala de la Kasbah, the 18th-century ramparts that once defended the city from invaders. Weathered brass cannons still stand sentinel, gazing out to sea. Since 2001, this site has held UNESCO World Heritage status—a testament to its enduring legacy and architectural grace.
Optional Ocean Dip & Evening Leisure As the sun begins its descent, you may choose to swim in the Atlantic’s cool embrace, letting the waves wash over the day’s impressions. Dinner is yours to curate—whether a quiet rooftop meal or a lively tavern tucked into the medina’s folds.
Tonight, you’ll settle into a charming riad, tucked within the old city walls—a place where dreams drift in with the ocean breeze and the past feels just a breath away.
Day 10:
Essaouira—Where the Wind Writes Stories
After breakfast, the day unfolds in Essaouira, a city where the Atlantic breeze carries tales of pirates, poets, and traders from centuries past. With your guide, you’ll begin at the port, where blue boats bob like scattered petals and the fish market hums with the rhythm of daily life—scales glinting, voices rising, and the scent of salt and sea.
Medina Meanderings
From there, wander through the medina, a labyrinth of whitewashed walls and indigo shutters. Artisan shops spill their wares into the alleys—woven baskets, fragrant oils, and hand-carved treasures. The pace here is gentle, the atmosphere tinged with bohemian charm.
Lunch by the Sea As midday arrives, you’ll settle into a beachside restaurant where the ocean is both backdrop and soundtrack. Waves roll in like punctuation marks to your conversation, and the seafood is as fresh as the morning’s catch.
The evening is yours to sit and observe, to soak up the ambience of this Atlantic gem.
Enjoy a second night in Essouria to mix with the locals who will delight in storytelling on all manner of topics.
Day 11: From Coastal Breezes to Marrakech’s Midnight Pulse
After breakfast in your riad, the morning is yours—perhaps a final stroll through Essaouira’s medina, where the sea air still clings to the stone and the rhythm of the waves lingers in your step.
As we depart, the road winds inland through the heart of Argan country, where gnarled trees stretch across the hills like ancient sentinels. We pause at a women’s cooperative, where the golden oil—revered for its culinary, cosmetic, and healing properties—is pressed by hand in a tradition passed down through generations. The scent of roasted kernels and the quiet strength of the women at work offer a moment of reflection and respect.
Scenic Stops & Soulful Views Along the way, we’ll make time for photographs—capturing the shifting hues of the landscape, the silhouettes of Argan trees against the sky, and perhaps a final glimpse of goats perched improbably in their branches.
Arrival in Marrakech By late afternoon, we arrive in Marrakech, where the city pulses with life and legend. After settling into your riad, the evening opens like a storybook.
Jemaa El Fna: A Living Stage As twilight deepens, you may choose to wander into Jemaa El Fna, the famed square where the night comes alive. Here, magicians conjure wonder, storytellers spin ancient yarns, musicians weave rhythm into the air, and snake charmers sway to unseen melodies. It’s a place where reality blurs and the spirit of Morocco dances freely beneath the stars.
Day 12: Marrakech—A City of Secrets and Splendour Today, the red city opens its heart. After breakfast in your riad, you’ll step into the old Medina, where centuries of history hum beneath every stone and shadow. With your guide, the day unfolds like a tapestry—each thread a story, each corner a revelation.
Menara Gardens: Stillness and Ingenious Design Begin at the Menara Gardens, where a tranquil pool mirrors the sky and flowerbeds bloom in quiet symmetry. More than ornamental, this serene space is part of an ancient irrigation system—an elegant fusion of beauty and function that nourishes the surrounding fields.
Architectural Jewels of the Medina. From there, the tour winds through Marrakech’s architectural treasures:
Day 13: Into the Green Heart of the Ourika Valley At 9 a.m., we leave the hum of Marrakech behind and glide across the Haouz Plains, where the land stretches wide and golden beneath the morning sun. Our first stop is a women’s Argan oil cooperative, where the famed “liquid gold” is pressed by hand—its transformation into balms, oils, and elixirs a quiet testament to tradition and resilience.
Tnin Ourika: A Market of Memory and Trade We continue to Tnin Ourika, one of the valley’s largest Berber souks, alive with barter, laughter, and the scent of mint and cumin. Once a week, villagers from across the valley gather here to trade goods, stories, and news. It’s a living mosaic of community, where woven baskets, fresh produce, and handmade wares spill into the dusty lanes.
Setti Fatma: Shade, Stream, and Serenity Crossing the Ourika River, we follow its gentle current upstream to the Berber village of Setti Fatma, nestled beneath the dappled shade of walnut trees. The air here is cooler, tinged with the scent of moss and mountain breeze. For those drawn to movement, a hike along the
river reveals hidden cascades, each one a secret tucked into the folds of the valley. Local guides are available to lead the way, sharing stories as you climb.
Riverbank Reverie Or perhaps you’ll choose stillness—settling into a café perched beside the stream, where the sound of water becomes your soundtrack and the High Atlas Mountains rise like a painted backdrop. Lunch is simple, local, and deeply satisfying—tagines simmered with saffron, olives, and sun-ripened vegetables.
Return to Marrakech
In the late afternoon, we return to Marrakech, the city’s pulse gently welcoming you back. The day’s quiet beauty lingers like a balm, a reminder of Morocco’s softer rhythms.
Day 14: A Taste of Marrakech—Hands, Heart, and Hammam
After breakfast, the day begins with a journey into the soul of Moroccan cuisine. You’ll head to a local cooking school, where spices are measured not just in grams but in memories. Under the guidance of skilled chefs, you’ll chop, stir, and season your way through traditional recipes—tagines bubbling with saffron and preserved lemon, fresh bread baked with care, and mint tea poured with ceremony. Lunch is the reward of your own hands, shared in laughter and fragrant steam.
Afternoon Rituals: Hammam & Massage Returning to Marrakech, the afternoon invites you into a world of renewal. A traditional hammam cleanses not just the skin but the spirit, followed by a soothing massage that melts away the last traces of travel. The rest of the day is yours—perhaps a final wander through the medina, a quiet rooftop drink, or simply time to reflect.
Overnight in Marrakech Your riad welcomes you back for one last night, its lanterns glowing softly, its courtyard whispering farewell.
Day 15: Departure Depending on your flight time, you’ll be transferred to the airport. As you leave Marrakech behind, you carry more than souvenirs—you carry stories etched in spice and stone, laughter shared under desert stars, and the quiet magic of Morocco woven into your memory.
